The story of the open door

There’s a specific kind of strength that grows when you’re forced to find it before you can even tie your own shoes. At five years old, most kids are worried about toys; I was worried about the basics—food, warmth, and where I’d be sleeping. I remember what it felt like to be the one knocking on doors, asking for the support that every human being deserves but not everyone finds.

That early survival mode didn't break me; it lit a fire. It turned into a drive that saw me owning my first car at 16, renting a home at 17, and a business at 19. I learned how to build structures out of thin air because I had to. But I also learned that "success" on paper isn't the same thing as healing.

My path through recovery and into peer support was the final piece of the puzzle. It taught me that while I was good at building a life, the most important thing I could build was a bridge for someone else.

My unique approach to recovery support

I don't just show up with a certificate and a clipboard. I show up with the memory of that five-year-old kid and the experience of a man who has built, lost, and rebuilt everything from the ground up. I know the OARS model and the professional standards of a recovery coach, but more importantly, I know the courage it takes to ask for help when the world feels cold.

At Rising Tide Peer Support, I'm not here to tell you what to do. I'm here because I know that no matter where you started, the tide can turn—and I'm honored to be the one standing on the dock to help you pull your boat in.

Why I do what I do

The catalyst

My drive is rooted in the memory of being five years old and having to knock on doors just to have my basic needs met. I know exactly what it feels like to be vulnerable and invisible. That memory creates a deep-seated refusal to let others feel that same isolation.

The mission

I'm not just helping people find resources; I'm standing there with them so they don't have to "knock" on the doors of the system alone. I'm driven by the belief that no one should have to be their own sole advocate when they are at their lowest point.

Building recovery capital

Because I was a homeowner and a business owner so young, I understand that recovery isn't just about "stopping" a behavior; it's about starting a life. I want to help people build the tangible assets—housing, jobs, and reliable routines—that make a life worth staying present for.

"The tide can turn-and I'm honored to be the one standing on the dock to help you pull your boat in."
